App crashes during sessions on some Android devices

Overview

If the app crashes during a meditation and the session isn’t recorded, this is often caused by aggressive background process management on some Android devices. Certain manufacturers close background apps to save battery, which can interrupt long-running sessions.

What to try

  • Follow the tips at dontkillmyapp.com for your phone model.

  • Enable any “keep app alive,” “protected apps,” or background activity permissions in your phone’s battery or app settings.

  • Turn off aggressive battery optimizations for the app (Settings > Apps > [App] > Battery > Remove optimization).

  • Allow the app to run in the background and grant persistent notification or lock-screen permissions if prompted.

  • Keep the app and OS updated to the latest available versions.

If issues continue

  • Collect and send debug info from the app (via the in-app support flow) so our team can investigate crashes without exposing personal data.

  • Contact your phone manufacturer with details about background app termination for your model—manufacturer changes can improve reliability for many users.
